Another New Year
by  Barry S. Maltese

As another year went drifting bye
some memories filled up my minds eye
Thoughts of how things used to be
when the best of Life was still quite free

Moments on a quiet and empty beach
with other people far out of reach
Or the starry nights, on a velvet sky
with a moon that glowed as the day was neigh

Some thoughts brought things to life again
like smiles that graced a bygone friend
. . . with hopes of what the future would bring
as tomorrows were still a far off thing

Yes, another year passes me in review
as many in the past would often do
and I reflect with some smiles, and some dread
as I look with hope to the year ahead
