This Dedication is written with sorrow for those who had to die to ensure
the sake of FREEDOM... and with Thankfulness that there are people in this
world who were Brave enough to do so...

For The Sake of Freedom
by Barry S. Maltese

EACH MARCHED AGAINST THE DEVIL
AS IF FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE
EVEN THOUGH THE BOMBS WOULD ROAR
CAUSING THE EARTH TO QUAKE

THEY'D FIGHT THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT OR DAY
FOR AN UNDYING LOVE OF COUNTRY
FOR HAPPINESS, AND FOR PEACE...
FOR THE RIGHT TO BE FREE

BOLDLY MARCHING INTO CERTAIN DANGER
THEY WOULD RUN, OR LEAP, OR CRAWL
SOMETIMES COUNTING THEIR LAST MINUTES
AS THEY WATCHED THEIR COMRADES FALL

STANDING UP SO VERY COURAGEOUSLY
AGAINST THE POWER OF THE REAPER'S TOUCH
ALWAYS GIVING THEIR ALL, THEIR VERY BEST
FOR THE ONES THAT THEY LOVED SO MUCH

SO WE TAKE THIS TIME TO REMEMBER
THE ULTIMATE GIFT THAT EACH GAVE
A SACRIFICE FOR ONE, AND ALL
GIVEN SO SELFLESS, AND SO BRAVE

ALL THE THINGS THAT WE GREATLY ENJOY
TAKE FOR GRANTED EVERY DAY
ARE HERE BECAUSE THOSE MEN, AND WOMEN
GAVE EVERYTHING TO KEEP IT THAT WAY

This poem now hangs in a couple of very special V.F.W. Halls in honor of those who have served our Country.
