The production went well, as we had hoped
we enjoyed each other there, too
And everyone I met who saw the play
repeated an astounding review

Saddened by that one final curtain
marking an end to all we had shared
I will miss the looks the audience gave
the way they so happily stared

The applause still rang inside my ears
as I climbed on the stage one last time
We stole the attention of those who watched
a very pleasant sort of crime

I 'll miss the experience beneath the lights
more than anyone realizes
But I will have many memories I shall keep
until the next time the curtain rises
